Leaving Their Mark: Class of 2026 Legacy Gift

The Anson Class of 2026 has officially left its mark on Anson ISD with a special legacy gift that will remain on campus for years to come.

The 2026 senior class donated a large red and black AT emblem, which now proudly hangs on the exterior of the high school. More than just a piece of artwork, the gift represents the pride, memories, and school spirit of the Class of 2026. Long after graduation, future Tigers will walk past it and be reminded of the class that helped add another piece of history to Anson High School.

Today, Mr. McCurdy and Mr. Wilson put the finishing touch on the project by hanging the emblem in its new home. With the Class of 2026 marking included on the artwork, there will be no question who helped make this addition to the campus possible.

Senior year is filled with lasts—the last first day of school, the last homecoming, the last football game, and eventually the final walk across the graduation stage. But this legacy gift gives the Class of 2026 something that won't disappear when the school year ends.

Thank you to the Class of 2026 for leaving behind a little piece of yourselves and a whole lot of Tiger pride. Your time at Anson ISD may be coming to an end, but your mark on the school will remain.

Make your Mark, Write your Legacy

Rock, Paper, Scissors Takes Over Anson High School

Who says you need a Friday night football game to have a little competition at Anson High School?

With the Tigers having an off week from football, AHS found another way to keep the competitive spirit alive with a schoolwide Rock, Paper, Scissors competition. Students faced off throughout the school, trying to outthink their opponents with one of the oldest strategies around: rock, paper, or scissors.

Students weren't the only ones getting involved. Teachers joined in on the action as well, proving that when it comes to Rock, Paper, Scissors, experience doesn't always guarantee victory. The competition brought plenty of laughs, friendly trash talk, and school spirit to the halls of AHS.

As the competition narrowed down, one competitor managed to outlast the rest. Connor Plank came out victorious, earning the title of Anson High School's Rock, Paper, Scissors champion!

Even during an off week for Tiger football, Anson High School showed that we can still find plenty of ways to compete, laugh, and have a good time together.

A big thank you to the Anson High School STUCO staff for putting the competition together and giving students and teachers a chance to have some fun during the school day.

Congratulations, Connor — enjoy the bragging rights while they last. There's always next year's rematch!

Anson High School Career Fair Brings Careers—and Fun—to Campus

Anson High School students got a chance to look toward their futures during the school’s Career Fair on Thursday, October 1. The event brought together representatives from a variety of career fields, giving students an opportunity to ask questions and learn about the many paths available after graduation.

The United States military was also well represented, with recruiters from all branches of service attending. Students were able to learn about military careers, educational benefits, technical training, and the many opportunities available through serving their country.

The day wasn’t all serious business, though. Students and teachers both got involved in the fun, bringing plenty of energy and laughter to the event. Teachers joined students in activities and conversations, making the Career Fair an experience for the entire campus.

Whether students are considering college, technical training, entering the workforce, or military service, the Career Fair gave them a chance to explore their options and think about what comes next.

With students, teachers, community members, employers, and military recruiters all taking part, the event showed that preparing for the future can be both educational and fun.

JR Ag Day Brings Agriculture to the Big Country Students

This week, Elementary students from Stamford, Hawley, Lueders-Avoca, Hamlin, and Anson gathered here at the Anson Show Barns for JR Ag Day. The event allowed students to learn more about agriculture and the many ways it affects their everyday lives.

JR Ag Day was organized through 4-H, with Clay and Kellie helping put the event together. Throughout the day, students rotated through different agricultural topics and learned about areas they may not have known much about before.

Students learned about power lines, cotton, rain precipitation, crop dusters, feedlots, goats, game wardens, and show steers. The students were able to see live goats while also learning about show steers. The students were allowed to have interactive contact with show steer equipment as well as hand-to-fur contact with the goats.

The students were excited and happy throughout the day, although the Texas heat made things a little challenging. Even with the hot weather, the students were able to stay involved and learn about each topic.

Events like JR Ag Day are important because they introduce children to agriculture at a young age. By teaching students about agriculture early, they can better understand how agriculture affects their communities and everyday lives.

After learning about the different agricultural topics, the students ate lunch before heading back to school. Although it was hot, JR Ag Day was a successful day of educating local elementary students about agriculture and giving them a chance to learn about the many different parts of the agricultural industry!
