If you've been looking for a way to spend more time on the land, build community, and deepen your connection to our winged relatives, we invite you to apply for our Native Birding Cohort.
Together with Urban Bird Collective, we're welcoming up to eight Native participants for a 6–8 month journey of learning, connection, and community. Complete this interest form by July 29 - we hope you’ll join us!

🎉 Exciting News! 🎉

We are thrilled to share that the American Indian Education Program has been awarded more than $20,000 through the Anoka-Hennepin Educational Foundation to support two initiatives focused on increasing the visibility, representation, and belonging of American Indian students throughout our district.

✨ A $12,000 Tribal Nation Flag Matching Initiative will help approximately 26 schools display Tribal Nation flags, creating opportunities for student voice, leadership, and increased Native visibility in our schools.

📚 AHEF has also awarded funding to launch a Native-authored Book Initiative, bringing Indigenous voices and stories into our school libraries. This work begins this year with approximately half of our elementary schools and represents the first step in a broader four-year vision to expand Native-authored book collections across every elementary, middle school, high school, and alternative learning site in the district.

Now we need your help!

We are seeking recommendations from students, families, and community members on Native-authored books you'd like to see in our school libraries. We're also looking for individuals who may be interested in helping with future community book processing events.

The updated versions of the apps are available to use and access now. Some families may no longer be able to login using the current or discontinued legacy version of the apps.

Downloading the new app ensures you will be able to be involved at the start of the school year:
• Get teacher assignments and class schedules.
• Monitor academic progress, assignments and tests.
• Submit student absences.
• Pay fees for meals and/or activities.
• View your student’s grades and report card.
• Find Transportation information, if applicable.
