After much prayerful reflection and discernment, the Trustees of Anniston First United Methodist Church have made the decision to conclude the ministry of The Children’s Place. Its final day of operation will be Friday, December 19, 2025.

For many years, The Children’s Place has been a vital ministry of our church, nurturing children and supporting families throughout our community. It has shaped the life of Anniston First in meaningful ways, and we give thanks for every child, every family, and every teacher who has been part of this ministry’s story.

Like many childcare programs across the country, we have faced mounting challenges related to staffing and financial sustainability. The balance between keeping care affordable for families and sustainable as a ministry has proven increasingly difficult to maintain. After much prayer and discernment, it has become clear that continuing The Children’s Place in its current form is no longer viable.

This decision was not made lightly. We know the need for quality childcare remains, and we grieve that we are no longer able to help meet it through this ministry. Its chapter in the life of our church is coming to a close — not because it lacked value or impact, but because the resources required to continue simply exceed what we can provide at this time. Even in our sorrow, we give thanks for the good that has grown here, and we trust that the love poured into this place will continue to bear fruit.

We ask for your prayers as we support families and staff through this transition and as we continue to seek God’s guidance for the future of Anniston First.

Alrighty folks we need your help... Our kiddos and parents worked hard to decorate pumpkins for this years decorating contest and we need you to vote for your favorite! Top 3 pumpkins with the most votes win a prize. Winners will be announced on Halloween day so make sure you get your votes in! *Must vote on original post for votes to count*

TCP's 2nd Annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest begins next Thursday October 23rd. Pumpkins will be displayed from October 23rd - 31st with the winners announced on Halloween Day!!! Top 3 pumpkins with the most votes win.

One perk of being located on Noble Street is the perfect view for Anniston High's Homecoming parade! These kiddos enjoyed the sights and sounds but mostly they loved the candy!

🌸 Remembering Lucy, Celebrating Her Playground 🌸

At The Children’s Place, our playground is more than just a place to play — it’s a place of joy, laughter, and life — built in memory of Lucy Bryan, one of our beloved students.

Lucy’s life was tragically cut short in 2020, but her spirit lives on here every day. In her honor, her family raised the funds that made this beautiful playground possible, giving countless children a place to run, climb, explore, and just be kids.

This past week marked the five-year anniversary of Lucy’s passing. We join her family in remembering her bright smile and the love she brought to our TCP family.

Every giggle, every game of tag, every happy moment shared here is part of Lucy’s legacy. 💜

🌟 Meet Our Director, Kayla Cromer! 🌟

Kayla is starting her 10th year at The Children’s Place and her 2nd year as Director. Before that, she served as Assistant Director for several years, making her a familiar face to so many of our families.

She loves TCP and the connections she gets to make with kiddos and their families every day. Her heart is to see TCP serve even more families and to continue being a place where parents can send their children with peace of mind—knowing they’re cared for like family. 💛

Outside of TCP, Kayla is a proud dog mama to Dolly, enjoys reading, sipping iced coffee, and spending time with her friends and family.

We are so thankful for Kayla’s leadership, passion, and love for our TCP family!
