Dear Weems Families,

I’m delighted to share that Allison Wood will be joining our leadership team this fall as Co-Director alongside Ms. Deb.

From our very first interview, it was clear how naturally Allison’s warmth, values, and her love for children fit the heart of Weems. You may also know her as a Weems mom herself (her youngest will be in Pre-K this year) so she understands firsthand what our families treasure about our school. Allison brings a rare blend of hands-on early-childhood teaching and real leadership experience. Our team is incredibly excited for what she’ll bring to our school.

Allison began her career in the classroom as a Lead Teacher at KIPP DC: Grow Academy, teaching three- and four-year-olds with the Tools of the Mind curriculum, and went on to support early-childhood programs across Washington, DC with Jumpstart. With Jumpstart, she was coaching and training teachers in preschool classrooms. More recently, as Assistant Director of Camp Hive with the Aloha Foundation, she has led day-to-day operations for a staff of 80 serving 180 campers each summer, with a focus on safety, inclusive culture, and strong family relationships. Additionally, Allison holds a Master’s in Education Policy and Leadership from American University.

Above all, Allison has a track record of building meaningful relationships with children, families, and staff — something near and dear to our hearts here at Weems. Please join me in giving Allison a warm Weems welcome!
