Joaquin, high school science exchange visitor from the Philippines, is having an incredible summer externship experience organized by his school district in Texas where he is creating lesson plans and making site visits.

"I had the opportunity to tour facilities operated by two major industries: Entergy, an electric utility company, and ExxonMobil, a petrochemical company. At Entergy, we visited advanced power plants and control centers, and we also spent time in the field observing how linemen and electricians perform their work. It was fascinating to see firsthand how electricity is generated, managed, and delivered to communities. At ExxonMobil, we toured several facilities, including the refinery, chemical plant, lubricant plant, and polyethylene plant. What I enjoyed most were the analytical lab, motor testing, and quality control laboratory. Seeing these laboratories in action made me appreciate even more the science concepts that I teach in the classroom.

Not only did this experience allow me to witness how science is applied in real-world industrial technologies, but it also gave me valuable insight into the career opportunities available to my students should they choose to pursue similar fields in the future.

This externship was both fun and educational, and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity. None of this would have been possible without the Teachers Council Program. Thank you for making experiences like this possible and for supporting educators like me.
Thank you so much! 😊"

Teachers Council President Nick and Program Director Chrissie attended the Congressional International Exchanges Caucus Launch Reception in Washington D.C. this week along with industry colleagues and supporters.

Representatives Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ, 2) and Ami Bera (D-CA, 6), and Senators John Boozman (R-AR) and Cory Booker (D-NJ), have formally announced the launch of the Congressional International Exchanges Caucus. The creation of a dedicated caucus demonstrates strong bipartisan recognition of the important role exchange programs play in supporting local communities, cultural exchange, and America’s global connections. BridgeUSA programs strengthen local communities across the country. They support businesses during critical seasonal periods, create cultural connections, and bring international participants into communities that value these exchanges.

✨Congratulations to Mary, outstanding exchange visiting teacher from the Philippines, on being recognized as Teacher of the Month, nominated as Distinguished Teacher, and designated as an Exemplary Teacher in her District for her incredible work teaching 5th grade students Reading and Language Arts in Texas. Her dedication, passion, and commitment to US student success inspires everyone around her! ✨

Mary shares, "My experience with American culture has been positive and eye-opening. I learned how diverse the U.S. is and how schools value inclusion, creativity, and student participation. I enjoyed experiencing different traditions, holidays, and community events. I also learned the importance of independence, open communication, and work-life balance. This cultural exchange
helped me become more adaptable and understanding of different perspectives."

We also love seeing exchange teachers embrace the adventure beyond the classroom! From making a difference in student lives to creating special memories with her spouse at Disneyworld, she is making the most of her exchange.

Thank you Mary for building bridges of understanding through education and representing the Philippines with pride. We are honored to support educators who enrich their US schools, communities, and the lives of their students daily. 💙
