Teachers Council

Teachers Council Teachers Council seeks to improve U.S. education by assisting international teachers and US schools.

Our qualified international teachers have been placed in over 25 States in public, charter, private and parochial schools in many subject areas, including Early Childhood and Kindergarten, primary grades, middle and high school grades for all levels of math and sciences, including bilingual and ESL instruction at all educational levels. To date, we have assisted more than 1000 international teache

rs come into the US to work for many school systems, such as:

Baltimore City Public School System - Maryland
St. Mary's County Public Schools - Maryland
US Virgin Islands Department of Education - Virgin Islands
Charter Schools in Washington, DC
Charter Schools in California
And many more! To meet the immigration needs of international teachers, Teachers Council arranges and cooperates with legal counsel to provide complete immigration assistance, including visa transfer, visa extension, temporary H-1B visa, and permanent EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card immigration. The immigration services are for both teachers and schools throughout the U.S. In the last 4 years, Teachers Council through their immigration attorneys has filed with USCIS over 2,000 for temporary and permanent visas for teachers and schools all over the US.

Alumni Exchange Visitor Teacher Rizabel shares her practical advice for new teachers after her successful cultural exchange program:

🍎In the Classroom:

✏️Don't expect teaching in the U.S. to be exactly like teaching in your home country.
✏️Classroom management is often more challenging than lesson planning.
✏️Build relationships with students first—they are more likely to cooperate when they feel respected.
✏️Don't be afraid to ask mentor teachers for help. Most are happy to share resources and strategies.

💲Financial Tips:

🪙Track your spending during the first few months.
🪙Avoid accumulating credit card debt.
🪙Learn about taxes early so you aren't surprised during tax season.
🪙If your district offers retirement contributions understand how they work before you leave the U.S.

🌎Cultural Adjustment:

➡️Be open to different teaching styles and cultural norms.
➡️Participate in school events and community activities.
➡️Homesickness is normal. Stay connected with family, but also make friends locally.

✈️Travel and Experiences:

🏵️One of the biggest benefits of the teacher program is cultural exchange.
🏵️Visit nearby states and national parks when you can.
🏵️Try local food and traditions.
🏵️Keep a travel journal or photo album—you'll appreciate it years later.

Thank you Teachers Council! 💙

Congratulations to Jonessa!

"I received the SPED Staff of the Year Award for 2025-2026 after all the challenges I have faced as a Special Education Teacher is a reminder that every sacrifice, long night of paperwork, behavior challenges, IEP meetings, and continuous learning are all worth it.

Being a SPED teacher is not always easy, but seeing my students grow, overcome challenges, gain confidence, and achieve their goals brings the greatest fulfillment. ❤️

This recognition is not just an award—it represents the progress of my students, the support of my colleagues, and the purpose behind my work.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to continue making a difference. This journey has been challenging, but it has also been incredibly meaningful."

Great effort, what an amazing second year of your program! We are so proud to be your sponsor.

Summer vacation gives exchange visitor teachers in the US an opportunity to experience and explore our great country! Lorna, originally from the Philippines, is an international Special Education teacher starting her third program year in her Las Vegas classroom. She shared;

"My trip was such a wonderful and meaningful experience. I’m very thankful for the opportunity to teach, learn, travel, and meet wonderful people along the way. To other teachers and those hoping to join the program, I would say, go for it! Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Enjoy the experience, make memories, and treasure every opportunity. It’s truly a blessing and an experience I will always be grateful for."

We love to hear what other exchange teachers have experienced on their summer vacation too!

Exchange visitor math teacher Thelma is fulfilling her international teching and learning dreams. Thelma was selected to be a speaker at the STEM Summit in beautiful Bozeman, Montana! She shared,

"Standing in front of a room full of educators and experts to share my passion for 'Mathematics as the Language: Building Numeracy that Powers STEM Learning', was both exciting and terrifying. I was so nervous that it honestly felt like my heart might stop! But the moment I began, I was met with the most encouraging, supportive, and engaged audience I could have asked for.

The laughter, stories, encouragement, and unforgettable memories we shared made the three days pass far too quickly. Being surrounded by people who genuinely support and inspire one another is a blessing I'll always treasure."

Congratulations Thelma, you are engaging in many opportunities during your program and making the most of your US experience by helping others!
