Our Firstie this week is our Australian exchange student, Caitlin Moriarty!

Hometown: Tauranga, New Zealand but now lives in Canberra, Australia at the Australian Defense Force Academy
Major: Business
Billet: 14th Company‘s favorite Australian!
Service Selection: Naval Aviation through the Royal Australian Navy
ECAs: Mountaineering, ARES, Sailing, and Softball
Fun Fact “I don’t know the whole Australian national anthem…”

“My favourite memories at the Academy so far have been seeing my first NHL game, Dining Out Night, and trying Texas Roadhouse! I‘ve loved my time here so far - I’m very grateful for all the friends I‘ve made, the experiences I’ve had, and the travel I‘ve managed to do!”

Major: Political Science with a French minor
Billet: 3rd Battalion Honor Advisor
Sport: Varsity Volleyball
Fun Fact “I danced hula before I could walk!”

“I’m excited to graduate with all my closest friends and my family in the crowd there to support me and my first salute with my dad! Service Assignment was my favorite USNA memory because I got to see all the goals I had seen my peers working towards for the last 4 years come to fruition. It was truly awe inspiring. My favorite summer training was my LSAP to France this past summer. I lived with a sponsor mom in Paris for a month and got to immerse myself in the language and culture.”

Congratulations to MIDN 1/C Daniel Cho and MIDN 1/C Holden Seybold on passing their Nuclear Power interviews. After graduation, they will head to Naval Nuclear Power School, having service selected the Nuclear Surface Warfare community.

Fun Fact: “My dad was a rescue swimmer in the Navy. I was in remedial swim until 1/C year”

“I came to the Academy to challenge myself academically while playing D1 football. I’m most excited about graduating and commissioning. My favorite summer training was Leatherneck. My favorite USNA memory was beating Army two years in a row.”

Fun Fact: “My parents threw me into the pool at 6 months old to force me to swim. It worked.”

“My favorite memory was Service Assignment and my best friend facetiming us from her semester abroad in Oman. Another core memory was leading our plebes to win Iron Company in Sea Trials, two years ago.”

“I wanted to come to the Naval Academy to take advantage of the summer opportunities and the unique adventures. On of my best Navy memories was the Army-Navy game. I’m super excited to be part of the 14th company!”
