I'm sailing the British Virgin Islands in Feburary and there are still cabins available Feb 8th -15th. $5500 for the cabin and you can get your ASA 114 certification for just $300 more per person. Bring you other half or anyone you don't mind sleeping with and split the cost. This price includes provisions too. You pay for your own booze and dinners out. I'm in charge of fun (and learning) on my boat in this 4 boat flotilla so you can count on both of those. You know you are going to want a break from winter by February so make plans now.

Off the dock just before 5 am to hit the Delaware bay at slack tide and enjoy the better part of the day going with the tide to go with the current on the C&D canal.

A dismal day sailing through fog cold rain and wind on the nose. But we were rewarded with an anchorage all to ourselves. The chart didn’t show any aids to navigation on this tight inlet. But there were some there which was a relief.

Ok Hive mind I need one of these in Cape Charles VA or a days sail away asap. Any ideas? Old parts dealers in Norfolk? A company I can get on the phone with and get them to overnight it?

Cape Charles so lovely we are spending tomorrow here too. Well, actually I need to adjust my autopilot and the weather to sail up the coast doesn’t start till Saturday. But it’s already a wonderful stay with a fine meal at Shanty and a visit with Kristin Rutkowski the Her Helm photographer.

On the VHF 78 the local watermen chat and the accent is close to Elizabethan English because of the isolation of this community. Sounds a bit like Cornwall here.

We were headed to Tangier but just as the weather turned bad we happened to be passing Smith Island! We got part of the boat into a slip at the wonderful (but shallow) 3 Knots Marine. They had an extension for our power cable since the back of our boat is still in the channel. But with the air conditioned lounge and super clean showers we can forget about the details. Nice to be tucked safe and sound in for the T-storms tonight .

Me with HHSA Commodore Jayne Durden after a successful Women’s Regatta. No awards for me this year but all the rewards of a wonderful day with friends.

Survey day for this Catalina 275. We did the engine tests before the haul out and bottom cleaning this time and after it passed the hull inspection we went right to dropping the mast and blocking it to be picked up by the transport team to truck it to Charleston to be used to teach ASA 101.
