Identifying and nurturing musical talent in children and youth in an environment of excellence that values and promotes diversity.

We can't stop thinking about the performance by the ASA's Orion Youth Orchestra last night at Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall.

➡️A*O musicians make up more than 80% of ASA faculty who teach our Discovery, Virtuoso Pathway, and ensemble students. This is a unique and very powerful model for youth orchestras and youth music education.

👯The Orion Youth Orchestra in particular, includes an intense and important focus on the student and musician/mentor partnership. They practice and rehearse together, ultimately performing side-by-side at major concerts.

We were proud to put this model front and center at the League of American Orchestras annual conference in Baltimore yesterday evening. ASA students build confidence, discipline, creativity, and a sense of belonging through the study of music and the shared experience of performing together—skills and connections that will last a lifetime.

ASA DAY yesterday at Maryland Hall was a great time. Our two concerts were incredible. Our soloists Phoebe, Ella, and Rayan received standing ovations. We're so proud of the hard work the entire team and all our students put into this successful event. Our volunteer photographer Richard Brown shot over 10,000 images - here are just a few. The convey a bit of the joy, satisfaction, and fun all of our students and guests felt throughout the day. Stay tuned for more.

👏 👏 On Sunday, Academy Artistic Director Heather Haughn and students Peter (violin), Z***r (violin), Angel (violin), Zeberiano (double bass), Isaac (violin), Miles (violin) performed works from Martini, Bach, Dvořák, Capuzzi, Reading, Saint-Saëns, and Brahms for a full house at Ginger Cove, accompanied by Jay Wire. The students excelled, and we're grateful to Ms. Haughn and A*O's Director of Community Engagement/ASA Associate Director Julie Nolan.

The performers are students of Daphne Eller, Heather Haughn, Glen Kuenzi, Broc Mertz, and William Wang.
