If you’re looking to brush up on our Author Bank classics, might we recommend Jane Austen for some good summertime reading? Beloved for her sharp wit and incisive social commentary, Austen (1775-1817) wrote in England during the regency of Prince George, who took over for his father King George III due to the king's failing mental health. At that time, many sacrificed attention to genuine human relationship for superficial concerns of class and reputation. Austen lived to highlight that irony and the other ironies inherent to human nature. How many of her novels have you read? Which is your favorite? Let us know in the comments below!

See the CLT difference! Colleges rely on score sharing for integrity and security in the admissions process. Given how important it is, shouldn’t test companies make sharing scores easy for students? You’d think so! But only CLT offers unlimited, free score sharing to colleges. And only CLT gives you the opportunity to see your scores before free sharing with colleges.

How do you go about getting a civic education? In The Prince and the Pauper, Twain paints a portrait of civic education that goes beyond the classroom into the real world. He portrays lived experience playing a significant role in sharpening transcendent ideals. America may not have kings, but, in a way, each of its citizens bears the governing responsibility of a king. By providing students with opportunities to step outside the classroom and get involved in their communities from an early age, we can prepare the next generation to preserve the gift of self-government.
