As a child, it's difficult to comprehend the burdens of adulthood.
As an adult, it is difficult to comprehend the burdens of parenthood until you become a parent.
As a student, it is difficult to comprehend the responsibilities of a teacher until you have stood in front of the classroom.
As a martial artist, it is difficult to understand the responsibilities of a sensei until you have stood in their place.
As a follower, it is difficult to understand the weight of leadership until you have carried it yourself.
Life teaches us that our experiences change our perspective. The older one becomes, the more they realize that while others may empathize with their struggles, only those who have walked a similar path can truly understand the weight they carry.
Such is the reason our inner circles grow smaller with age. We begin to value those who can relate to our experiences.
Be mindful of whose advice you seek, but humble enough to learn from those who have traveled farther than you.
