Yesterday, hosted the Transfer Scholars Network Partner Convening, bringing together community colleges and four-year institutions committed to expanding transfer opportunities for students.
Led by The Aspen Institute's College Excellence Program and the American Talent Initiative, the Transfer Scholars Network connects high-achieving community college students with admissions representatives from some of the nation's most selective colleges and universities.
Since joining the network in 2021, NOVA has consistently been one of its top three nominating institutions. NOVA students have transferred to leading universities throughout Virginia and across the country.
During her remarks, NOVA President Anne M. Kress emphasized that community college students possess extraordinary talent and resilience, but too many face barriers to transferring, including affordability, limited awareness and credit loss.
She highlighted the importance of strong partnerships like the Transfer Scholars Network and called on colleges and universities to strengthen transfer pathways so more community college students can realize their full potential.
"At the end of the day, what this means is authentic, meaningful, transformational opportunity for students who might not have ever thought that they would be able to cross the stage at commencement at the nation's top universities."
