My favorite plant nursery is OPEN! I'm so glad to have such good news. They've restructured their layout to be friendly but compliant with social distancing guidelines.

Heather Hill Gardens specializes in healthy plants, plants that will thrive in our geographic area, and plants that will deter unwanted wildlife. (Yes, they have lots of gorgeous hosta, but they'll tell you it's a deer salad bar.) Right now, they have pansies and perennials, and the stock will continue to change throughout the season.

DC Metro Area Peeps: Last call for Saturday's class at Artistic Artifacts: Paper Piecing for Beginners! This Saturday, October 15, 1:30-4:30pm. This technique is simpler than you think and it belongs in your skills toolbox. You can do this.

Using a pattern that I will provide, you'll learn how to foundation paper piece a block of flying geese. Put four blocks together and you have a table square or the beginning of a quilt. Fast and easy cutting instructions are on the supply list. Below, see three color variations. To keep it simple, I recommend just two fabrics: one for the geese and one for the background. I'm from teaching at the Original Sewing & Quilt Expo in Fredericksburg, VA. What a wonderful group of sewists and quilters! Rock stars, one and all. I'm finally unpacked and almost rested, ready to start prepping for Houston. Do you unpack right away after a show, or do you wait a bit?

How do YOU Craftsy?
I like downloading classes onto my iPad and watching them while I sit on the deck at home or while I'm cooling my heels when I'm on the road. My favorite? I love watching them on planes. :)

I'm cranking the tunes in the studio today as I work on two gifties for family I'll see tomorrow. I'm enjoying the Billy Joel channel on Pandora, but they could also call it the Oldies channel. Sigh.
