Fuel The Joy Daily Teacher and Administrator Nugget...Today I thought it was the HEA scholarship Jean Day...I prepared my 5 dollars and outfit the night before. Excitedly, this morning I got dressed since I did not have to wear my formal work clothes...only to realize I am the only one in jeans today. I misread the email and the jean Friday is next week. I went next door to my principal to formally apologize not knowing what to expect, because I have never made this mistake. My principal laughed and said don’t worry about it! As I sat in my office and contemplated his reaction to my mistake I realized how important it is to not sweat the small stuff as an administrator. As a staff member I encourage everyone to create a relationship with your administrators...get to know the administrators as they are people too and sometimes make mistakes👍

As the administrator it is your leadership responsibility to provide guidance, professional development and mentors to encourage positive classroom environments that are rich in academics and social/emotional development.

Fuel The Joy Daily Teacher Nugget...Second chances. I think it is important to remember that every student should have a 2nd, 3rd and 4th chance. Guiding students to understand consequences to actions needs to happen, but where the gold can be found is in the opportunity to choose another option and experience another consequence...hopefully positive.

Fuel The Joy Daily Teacher Nugget...This morning I had a conversation with frustrated teachers upset with a student because she will not work. My single question to the teachers was to ask if they have a relationship with the student. I explained to them that if there is no teacher/student relationship the child will not feel comfortable to be vulnerable to learn.

I am sharing this with everyone, because this is a key ingredient to a child learning. Support your fellow teachers by encouraging healthy teacher/student relationships that encourage learning.

Can you give a tip of how to create this healthy dynamic in the classroom? Please list them in the comments section. You might give a fellow teacher a new approach and help a student feel safe, accepted and vulnerable to learn!
