Founded in 1860, Bard College is a four-year residential college of the liberal arts and sciences located 90 miles north of New York City. Jonathan Becker, acting president at Bard College, has published a New York Times Opinion piece about student voting rights. “American colleges and universities must not be neutral on the issues of democracy and civic participation,” Becker writes. “College leaders should find resources to promote and defend the most foundational of democratic rights.”

Hudson Valley Community Air Network, led by Bard College’s Community Sciences Lab at the Center for Environmental Sciences and Humanities, was featured in Chronogram magazine in an article about ongoing efforts to track and trace pollution in the air of the Hudson Valley region.

Bard College launched Language and Thinking Kyiv, a tuition-free three-week program for Ukrainian high school students and an extension of Bard’s signature program involving deep engagement with texts and an exploration of the iterative process between writing and thought.
