🐴🎨 What an incredible conversation we had last Thursday at The Michigan & State Theaters - Marquee Arts with Lisa Hanawalt and Samantha Irby!

Hanawalt is the production designer and producer of BoJack Horseman, the acclaimed animated series on Netflix. She’s the creator and executive producer of Tuca & Bertie, a vibrant and surreal animated show on Netflix and Adult Swim. And most recently, she’s the producer and production designer of Long Story Short, an adult animated comedy about family, spanning many decades.

Irby is the creator and author of the blog bi***es gotta eat, where she writes humorous observations about her own life and modern society more broadly. Her books We Are Never Meeting in Real Life and Wow, No Thank You. were both New York Times best-sellers. ✍️🎀

🎨 Big ideas meet big laughs with Lisa Hanawalt.

From shaping the look of BoJack Horseman to creating Tuca & Bertie and working on the animated comedy Long Story Short, moves effortlessly between comics, animation, books, murals, and more. Her work is full of wit, emotional honesty, and unexpected visual twists that make you see the everyday in a whole new way.

She’s one of the voices defining what animation and illustration can be - playful, strange, and totally human.

🎭πŸͺ„ A huge thank you to Shana Moulton for her incredible talk and screening last Thursday at The Michigan & State Theaters - Marquee Arts! An artist who works in video and performance, Moulton's practice blends feminist sensibilities with surrealist imagery and sound to probe the complexities of the contemporary psyche.

Her ongoing Whispering Pines series investigates self-help culture, the pursuit of spiritual fulfillment, and the often comical absurdities of personal wellness rituals. Across performances, videos, and installations, Moulton uses her alter ego, Cynthia, to craft narratives that are both deeply personal and widely relatable, exploring the shifting boundaries between the mundane and the mystical in an era of global digital capitalism. πŸ“½οΈπŸ’«
