LeadersConnect End of Year Celebration featuring Ari Weinzweig Speaking on his new pamphlet “Why Democracy Matters"

As Daniel Coyle, Author of Flourish, The Culture Code, and The Talent Code, says,

Ari writes about democracy the way it actually exists in the world: as a lived, practiced, daily act. For decades at Zingerman’s, he and his coworkers have been quietly building the conditions democracy depends on—shared ownership, agency, dignity, transparency, and responsibility.

“Why Democracy Matters” is a roadmap to trust, participation, and the steady work of giving people real influence over the forces that shape their lives. Ari reminds us that democracy isn’t something we inherit or admire from a distance; it lives only through what we choose to make together. At this moment, that reminder feels not just hopeful, but essential.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) announced that SNAP benefits will not be distributed in November. Food Gatherers is here to help anyone who needs access to food in our community.
In Michigan, 13% of households rely on SNAP for the nutritious food that they and their families need for a healthy life. When benefits are delayed, more neighbors will experience food insecurity and turn to Food Gatherers' network.
In response, Food Gatherers is purchasing more food and expanding food distributions, so that everyone in our county has access to the healthy foods they deserve.
To help keep their trucks full of nutritious food, donate today at https://give.foodgatherers.org/ge/snapresponse. A gift to Food Gatherers supports equitable access to food throughout the county through distributions to 140 partner agencies and programs.
To find a food distribution near you, visit www.foodgatherers.org/findfood or call 734-761-2796.
