Andrea Fischer Newman and Frank Newman Research Professorship celebrated Dr. Kevin Chen was installed as the inaugural recipient, thanks to the generosity of Regent Emerita Andrea Fischer Newman and Frank Newman.

This weekend our faculty and residents participated in a Neurosurgery Softball Tournament alongside teams nationwide, supporting brain cancer research. We extend our gratitude to Drs Komotar, Dadario, and Bruce for organizing this impactful and enjoyable event. UMich Department of Neurosurgery

Rising senior neuroscience major Brooke Lopo will be spending her summer in the Ramnath Student Fellowship, a one-month elective clinical rotation in neurosurgery at the University of Michigan. Ramnath Fellows have the opportunity to shadow neurosurgical faculty and engage in clinicals that will prepare students for their future careers.

Congratulations to Dr. Edwin Nieblas-Bedolla on winning both the 2026-27 NREF Research Fellowship Grant and the 2026 ASCO Young Investigator Award (pictured below). A tremendous achievement, and well deserved recognition of his outstanding research contributions UMich Department of Neurosurgery 〽️
