Michigan Engineering prioritizes a people-first engineering approach. This means we're not just solving technical problems, but we're also considering the impact on communities, individuals, and the broader society.
As you read Bad Blood, reflect on how we can embody the spirit of people-first engineering though engineering work. By understanding the critical balance between innovation and ethics, we can rebuild systems to better serve all people.

Why did you become a Common Reading Experience facilitator?
The common reading experience was something that I really enjoyed, and I wanted to share that experience with new students!

What advice do you want to share with incoming first year engineering students?
Take time to figure out what you’re really passionate about, both in and out of classes. Make sure to schedule in time for fun too!

Our aim is to complement technical knowledge with insight from other disciplines such as humanities and the arts. We want to expose our students to other disciplines so that we can broaden their understanding of equity, global perspective and of people-first engineering.
