The University of Michigan Tuba and Euphonium Studio was founded in 1973 when Abe Torchinsky, the first U-M Professor of Tuba and Euphonium joined the music faculty at Michigan. Torchinsky's retirement from the U-M in 1989, the studio has been under the instruction of Prof. The former studio members could be found in major orchestras, universities, and military bands all over the country.
