🐝Hive Update!!🐝
The club officers recently winterized the hives!! To do this, we added insulation boards (wrapped in black material) to both of our hives. This helps to keep the temperature of the hives warmer through the winter, which relieves stress from the bees and insures they don’t go through their food stores too quickly. The insulation also helps keep the hives a steady internal temperature rather than fluctuating with the outside temperature, which again, takes some stress off the bees :)
We also added mouse barriers to the entrance of the hives so that mice don’t take shelter in the hives during the winter! ❄️ 🐁

We had a wonderful hive check this Sunday and want to thank our members for coming along! We opened up two healthy hives and hope everyone had a great time 🐝🍯

Thank you all who have attended our several recent events in November and December!! We had a great turn out at our December meeting with guest speaker Ms. Ana Heck, an Apiculture Extension Educator from MSU. She gave a wonderful presentation and we would love to have her back. Thanks Ana!
Another big thanks to everyone who came to our gourd painting and candle making events :) we had so much fun and hope to see more of your faces in the future!
