Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor, Michigan offers affordable tuition rates, high-quality classes and over 130 different certificate and degree options. More than 18,000 students register for credit classes each year, and thousands more enroll in non-credit Personal Enrichment and Workforce Development classes. WCC’s diverse student body includes more than 1,000 students from over 100 foreign countries. The average class size at WCC is 22 students. That’s a fraction of the size of many basic classes at four-year colleges and universities. WCC also emphasizes convenience. We offer classes seven days a week, at night, and online. And transferring is easy because WCC has agreements with four-year schools throughout Michigan. A new state grant will expand WCC’s training capabilities in robotic welding and pipe fabrication, skills essential to shipbuilding, vessel repair and advanced manufacturing.

Thank you, Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor, Michigan for another year of extraordinary generous support of scholarships that help WCC students overcome financial barriers and reach the finish line.

"You are not simply funding scholarships. You are investing in possibility – giving students not only financial assistance, but also encouragement, confidence and the knowledge that their community believes in them," WCC President Dr. Rose B. Bellanca told club members. "So today, as we celebrate another year of your generosity, I hope you know how deeply grateful we are."

Congratulations to the 20-member graduating class of the WCC Corrections Academy who were recognized at a special ceremony yesterday.

Academy enrollees were previously hired as corrections officers at sheriff’s offices in Washtenaw, Lenawee, Jackson and Monroe counties. The Michigan Sheriffs' Coordinating & Training Council (MSCTC) requires officers to complete training at an approved academy during the first year of employment.

Thanks to all who attended the Microelectronics & Semiconductor Innovation Exchange at WCC earlier today. Co-hosted by Automation Alley, the event brought together industry leaders, educators and workforce partners to explore the future of Michigan's microelectronics and semiconductor industry.

Attendees heard from keynote speaker Lisa Krusemark, Ph.D., a research scientist at the Center for Automotive Research - CAR, participated in facilitated roundtable discussions and toured WCC's labs.

About 180 students local high school students visited WCC today for , touring the college’s CNC, Robotics, Engineering Technology and Welding labs, as well as interacting with local employers. The visits were coordinated through the Washtenaw Intermediate School District, engaging students in Career & Technical Education programs across the county.

Manufacturing Day is designed to expose students to high-demand careers and the education and training pathways required for them.
