To close out this series, we’re celebrating our 2025 WISE RP Summer Scholars during their Summer Scholars Showcase, where scholars presented the research they worked on throughout the summer.

Through the Summer Scholars Program, WISE RP students gain hands-on research and internship experiences while participating in professional development and community-building opportunities that help prepare them for their futures in STEM.

As we celebrate this incredible group of scholars, we’re also excited to share that we received 21 applications for the upcoming Summer Scholars cohort and are currently reviewing this year’s applicants.

Thank you for following along as we shared a glimpse of what we love about WISE RP—from global learning, to service in our local community, to research and discovery.

So far, we’ve shared how WISE RP scholars grow through global experiences and service within our local community.

Now we’re excited to highlight another space where scholars thrive: the lab.

Through our Summer Scholars Program, WISE RP students spend the summer gaining hands-on internship and research experiences across STEM fields while continuing to grow together as a community.

Alongside their research, scholars participate in professional development sessions, build community through shared meals and conversations, and engage in experiential learning opportunities out in Ann Arbor!

Swipe to catch a glimpse of Summer Scholars in action. 🔬🌿

Yesterday we shared the purpose behind our new Service Learning initiative. Today we’re celebrating the scholars who helped make it happen.

WISE RP squads (Peer Mentors & First-Year Students) came together to design, decorate, and assemble period packs for youth in the foster care system supported by Our House Michigan, in partnership with the University of Michigan’s Period Organization.

Together, our community gathered:

• 1,181 super pads
• 676 regular pads
• 589 tampons
• 483 panty liners

A special shoutout to our winning squad, the “Invention” squad, who procured the most supplies, and to every squad that helped design and assemble these packs with care and intention.

Swipe to meet the scholars and partners, and leadership behind this initiative 💙

Last week, we shared a glimpse of how WISE RP scholars expand their perspectives globally through our study abroad experience in Capetown, South Africa.

While it’s true our community acts globally, we never forget the importance of caring for the folks right at ho〽️e. Do you remember earlier this year when we shared a glimpse of something in the works? We’d love to formally introduce you to our most recent initiative💜!

As part of our new Service Learning initiative, WISE RP scholars partnered with University of Michigan student organization The Dot Org to assemble period packs for youth in the foster care system supported by Our House — MI. What began as a simple idea grew into a collective effort to gather supplies, build packs with intention, and reflect on how care, dignity, and access matter in every community.

Swipe to see what went into each bag and the collective effort behind this project.

And stay tuned tomorrow as we share the finished packs and celebrate the squads who helped make it happen. 💙

2025 WISE RP Study Abroad Scholars visited WomHub! 💜

WomHub is a boutique incubator and advisory firm supporting innovation along the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Manufacturing) value chain, providing a holistic offering of business services tailored for female founders. The incubator and accelerator support STEM innovation through providing hackathons, venture building, virtual and in-person incubator and accelerator support. WomHub's expertise lies in female-led innovation and working with female founders, although it has run equally successful gender-agnostic programs as well.

Thank you, WomHub, for helping gender-minoritized scholars in STEM learn what's possible in the world 💙

This week, you'll catch us sharing what we love about WISE RP💜. We're starting with our new annual study abroad experience in Cape Town, South Africa, where STEM meets global perspective and perspective expands possibility. Last year, for a span of 21 days, scholars practiced respectful engagement with group members and the host culture, building their capacity to understand cultural differences and cultural shifts.

We love that with every step, scholars grew and received experiences that truly stayed with them forever 💙
