Today is Michigan's primary election!

Here's some helpful notes for those who may be voting in a Michigan primary for the first time:

• Michigan does not operate in a top-two system like California: one Republican and one Democrat will advance to the November general election in each respective partisan race.

• Although vote splitting is allowed in the general election, doing so in the primary today will invalidate your ballot. Meaning, for example, you cannot vote in the Republican Governor primary and also vote in the Democratic State Representative primary on the same ticket.
