Our campers had the best time stepping into the kitchen to learn how to make a traditional batido!

By engaging with hands-on, experiential learning, our campers practiced so many wonderful skills:

Sensory Exploration: Exploring ingredients with all five senses, connecting texture, aroma, and vibrant colors to their learning.

Real-World Math & Science: Measuring, pouring, and observing the physical transformation of ingredients into a delicious drink.

Confidence & Community: Practicing collaboration, building agency, and learning how to navigate a real-world kitchen environment.

On the way back to camp, the kids couldn't stop talking about how much they loved it! We are so grateful to the entire team for welcoming our young learners with open arms, lots of patience, and so much warmth!

Opening a child care center involves much more than creating a welcoming space for children and families. Behind the scenes, providers must navigate zoning, health, fire, licensing, funding, and construction requirements—often all at once.

When challenges in the permitting process threatened one of our expansion projects, Ann Arbor SPARK helped us understand the system, connect with local leaders, and advocate for solutions. That support helped move the project forward and contributed to changes that can make the process more manageable for other providers, too. 🍎
