When Michael Ettlinger saw CFE's table at Michigan Engineering's Embark Fair, he was "instantly drawn in."
Since that pivotal day, Michael has dived deep: from completing the Perot Jain TechLab: Climate Change program and the Graduate Certificate in Innovation & Entrepreneurship, to becoming a Fellow in the 2026 Entrepreneurial Leadership Program.
“When I look at the impact of these projects—on communities, the planet, my teammates, and myself—I sometimes wonder if I should tear up or get right back to work. Sometimes, it’s both.”

What does it mean to be an entrepreneur at the University of Michigan? For Max Feldman, it means following your curiosity, even when you don’t fit the mold.
When an article he wrote for The Michigan Daily went viral on campus, Max recognized an opportunity to solve students' scheduling woes. From there, he threw himself into entrepreneurship, joining Sigma Eta Pi and CFE's Entrepreneurial Leadership Program while building his first venture.
Along the way, Max discovered that the entrepreneurial community at Michigan is as creative and diverse as its students. He leaned into mentorship, collaboration, and the unexpected lessons that come from facing big challenges (and sometimes from a box of Washtenaw Dairy donuts in the library.)
His advice to his freshman-year self? “Write more poems.”

Entrepreneurship starts young, and MPowered Entrepreneurship's Trailblaze proved it! Garden City Public Schools Middle School students embraced problem-solving, pushed boundaries, and uncovered the magic of innovation.
