Starting in the 1960s, Muñoz became a leading figure in the _La Nouvelle Tapisserie_ (New Tapestry) and Fiber Sculpture movements. These artists shattered traditional boundaries, moving tapestry away from flat, decorative wall hangings and transforming them into dynamic, three-dimensional avant-garde sculptures.
By emphasizing raw texture, volume, and spatial interaction, they made fiber art a standalone, immersive experience for everyone.
This particular detail highlights her incredible, organic macramé knotting technique from _Ondulations_. Her breakthrough work, _Beige Eagle_ (1977), was featured in the permanent collection at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) for their acclaimed exhibition, _Taking a Thread for a Walk_.
