The Gingerbread House Preschool

Ok Friends, we have a little change to the Garage Sale schedule. Ms Sandy is cancelling the sale for tomorrow due to the holiday weekend (and it’s been so busy she’s exhausted!) 😉
She will schedule more days very soon! So nice to see so many of you!

Gingerbread House Friends and Parents,

We can not thank you enough for all of the joy, memories, and love over the last 35 years. I write this from the position of a GB parent, teacher, student, daughter of Ms Sandi, and Mom of Miss Evelyn.

Both of my children attended the Gingerbread House- the oldest of whom will graduate from SHS in June and is working there now. I was an assistant teacher there for years in high school and beyond (it was my first job!) I was a student in Mom’s first Gingerbread House which she started with a dream in her heart and a school in our basement. I loved it. As her daughter and a participant/supporter in this business over the past 35 years, we have all seen the Gingerbread House evolve and change over the years. We have helped move equipment, set up programs, drywall, paint, w**d, gather supplies/snacks, and cheer Mom on. Yet, even with all of the support from us in the world, this has absolutely been Mom’s business. She is the core of everything that happens there and how it happens. She loves every child and every family.

She is also the hardest worker I know. Imagine working full time as a teacher in a local district, opening (and licensing) a business, raising 2 children, being a loving wife, and completing your Master’s degree—- all at the same time! She did it all. When she completed her Master’s, she was still doing the rest. For quite a few years she even had a second GB House that more than doubled the size of the business! And she was always there at our events and performances. (Jason and I). We ate a family dinner together every night, and watched our favorite shows together. It wasn’t until her own parents’ health declined that she decided to step away from her teaching job to focus on Grandma and Grandpa.

My Dad has been retired for over 15 years now, but Mom is still working.

Deciding to retire has been a hard decision for her simply because she loves the kids, the families, her staff, what she does, and what she has created. There’s never a good time. But she’s excited at the idea of fully enjoying life, and maybe not working so hard? She’s in great health. She has her family and friends. Heck, maybe she’ll get back into sewing? Maybe she’ll have more time to read? Maybe she’ll sleep in late and just hang out with Dad and Ginger. Whatever she decides to do, she has earned it.

We love all of you for helping our Mom make her dreams a success. We have loved hearing stories about your amazing children, and we have loved the staff as part of our family.

Thank you for all you have given us and thank you for all you have given our Mom.

A Huge Holiday Thank You to all of our Gingerbread families! Together you donated 52 new pairs of pajamas for the Scholastic Pajama Drive!! Your donations will be dropped off next week at the Michigan Foster Care Closet in Ann Arbor. Scholastic will also send 52 new books to be paired with the pjs you donated. Your generosity will make a difference for many local children and families. 🥰
