We’ve collected photos of Sigma’s dogs through the years. Most of these pictures come from old issues of The Sigman, which can be found on the website at www.lcamichigan.com/alumni-news. Photos from The Michigan Daily come from the Daily’s online archive. Yearbook photos come from scans performed by the staff at the Bentley Historical Library. Thanks to the folks at the Bentley Historical Library and the many alumni who submitted photos and stories for this collection.

This is the only known photo of Major VIII. It's from the 1974 edition of the Michiganensian. This Major seems to have had a very short tenue at 1601 Washtenaw. Jack was the house dog in 1973 and there was no dog in the 1975 yearbook. If you're reading this and have more photos, we'd love to see them!

Major VI's only yearbook appearance was this one, from the 1966 edition of the Michiganensian.

Major IV came to Ann Arbor in October of 1952. He made it into the group photo starting with the 1953 edition of the yearbook. Major IV has the record for most appearances in the yearbook. He was in it from 1953 to 1960.

Mac the dog replaced Major III in the fall of 1951. This photo is part of the group picture in the 1952 edition of the yearbook. Mac had a short run at 1601 Washtenaw. He was replaced by Major IV in the next edition of the yearbook.

Major III appeared in the Lambda Chi Alpha group photo in the 1950 yearbook. He wasn't on campus too long, but he made an impression. The Michigan Daily announced the departure of "the huge St. Bernard Mascot" later that year.

As things started getting back to normal at 1601 in the late 1940s, the guys found a new St. Bernard to continue the legacy from the pre-WWII days. Major II appeared in the 1948 and 1949 yearbooks. This one is from 1949.

Sigma legend George Spasyk appears the top right of this photo. This was George's senior year.
