Today, one of our School Age Directors had the opportunity to travel to Michigan's capital to do some learning and advocating for Out of School Time Programs, like CDC Kids Club!
The OST Advisory meeting emphasized strategic, forward-thinking approaches to OST programming and highlighted the broader challenges facing community-based organizations relying on year-to-year grant funding. The discussion extended far beyond CDC's individual representation to address systemic sustainability concerns across the OST sector.

Today, we traveled to Lansing to stand with others who advocate for and understand the importance of out-of-school-time programs in our state. This funding that has allowed us to expand our Kids Club and Camp programs with more learning opportunities and greater access for families who need it. Every child benefits from the expanded opportunities this grant makes possible.
Right now, nearly 678,100 Michigan young people want to enroll in afterschool programs but can't access one. That's 678,100 kids without a safe place to go. That's families struggling to make work schedules align with school dismissal times.
Thank you to MASP for organizing today's advocacy. Every voice matters when we're fighting for Michigan's children and families.
