Happy Pride Month! 🌈
At Daycroft School, we believe every child deserves to feel seen, valued, respected, and celebrated for who they are. Pride Month is an opportunity to recognize the importance of inclusion, kindness, empathy, and belonging within our school community and beyond.
As a Montessori school, we honor the uniqueness of every individual and strive to create an environment where all students, families, and staff feel welcomed, supported, and empowered to be themselves.
This month and every month, we celebrate the diversity that strengthens our community and the connections that help us grow together.
Community GraceAndCourtesy
Today, Daycroft School was honored to participate in the Dexter Rotary Club Memorial Day Parade. 🇺🇸
Memorial Day gives us an opportunity to gather as a community, reflect with gratitude, and remember those who gave their lives in service to our country.
At Daycroft, learning extends beyond the classroom. Experiences like this help students see the connection between school and the world around them—building community, practicing citizenship, and understanding the importance of honoring traditions that bring us together.
Thank you to the Dexter Rotary Club and and our greater community for creating meaningful moments of connection and remembrance. ❤️🤍💙

Movement matters 🏃♀️🌿
Recess and outdoor play aren’t “breaks” from learning—they are learning. Research continues to show a strong connection between physical activity, fresh air, and improved focus, behavior, and academic performance in children. When kids move their bodies, they’re also strengthening their ability to think, regulate emotions, and engage deeply in the classroom.
At Daycroft, outdoor time, fresh air, and gross motor development are woven into our daily rhythm—not squeezed in when there’s time left over. It’s essential, not extra.
You can read more about the growing conversation around recess and academics in the link in bio.

From petals to precision 🌸✨
This primary student is pin punching the parts of a flower—exploring botany while strengthening the hand for writing.
In a Montessori environment, children are introduced to subjects like botany at a young age through hands-on, meaningful work. As they learn the parts of a flower, they’re also building fine motor control, focus, and coordination with each careful pin punch.
Everything is intentional. Materials are designed to connect learning across content areas—science, language, and movement—so children gain a deeper understanding of the world around them.
This is what makes Montessori so unique.

Twist, turn, repeat 🔄✨
With the opening containers work, this primary student is practicing the wrist rotation needed for everyday tasks—unscrewing, pouring, dressing, and eventually writing.
These purposeful movements strengthen the hand, build coordination, and develop deep concentration. What looks simple is actually preparing the child for independence in so many meaningful ways.
This is the power of practical life in a Montessori classroom.
