Happy Pride Month!

Happy Earth Day Michigan! 🌎🌈

As March comes to a close, we want to take time to remember all the amazing accomplishments that women have made to history. You can not tell a complete story if half of it is missing. We celebrate all the progress we have made for women's rights, and we continue to right to reach full equality.

2026 marks the 100th year that we have celebrated Black history and the 50th year of Black History Month. Originally titled "Negro History Week' to mark the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln and Fredrick Douglas, it was expanded to the whole month in 1970 at Kent State University. It then spread across the country until being recognized nationally by President Ford in 1976. This long history highlights how important this time is to recognize the work and accomplishments of the Black community.

Happy birthday to our beautiful state of Michigan! This is the 189th anniversary of statehood, when we received the Upper Peninsula as compensation for giving up Toledo. I think we can all agree that we won that trade! Today we can celebrate all the great things about the state, even if it is from the comfort of your own home.

We would like to wish everyone a happy and healthy Thanksgiving. The ARISE Center will be closed today and tomorrow for the holiday.

Despite being the largest segment of the LGBTQ+ community, bisexual people are often overlooked or stigmatized. This happens both within and outside the community. Today is a great day to recognize bisexuality and celebrate it as part of the diverse tapestry of identities that constitutes humanity.
