Last week we worked with Move United Sport to host the first "Michigan Adaptive Sports Collaboration Summit".
Whether you were able to join us in person or were unable to attend, we appreciate your commitment to advancing adaptive, inclusive, unified, and para sport opportunities across Michigan. The Summit was intentionally designed as the beginning of a larger statewide conversation. By bringing together organizations from education, healthcare, parks and recreation, nonprofit organizations, governing bodies, community programs, and other sectors, our goal was to start building stronger relationships, identify shared challenges and opportunities, and begin developing a more connected adaptive sport ecosystem throughout Michigan.
The ideas generated during these discussions will help shape future collaboration efforts, but this is only the first step. We want to ensure that voices from across the state, including those who could not attend, are reflected as we determine priorities and next steps.
To help us continue this work, we invite you to complete the following survey: https://forms.gle/o9EvaHs3Vgi3mX1z9
The survey includes opportunities to:
- Share additional thoughts from the activities
- Provide feedback on priorities for Michigan's adaptive sport community
- Identify collaboration opportunities and resources your organization can contribute
- Express interest in participating in future meetings and working groups
We anticipate sharing a summary of the summit findings, common themes, and proposed next steps with participants in the coming weeks. Our hope is to establish an ongoing statewide network that continues to strengthen communication, collaboration, and access to adaptive sport opportunities for individuals with disabilities throughout Michigan.
Thank you for your participation and your commitment to growing adaptive sports across our state. We look forward to continuing this work together!

Session Description:
This 90-minute interactive workshop will convene adaptive sport organizations, community partners, educational institutions, healthcare providers, parks and recreation agencies, governing bodies, and other stakeholders from across Michigan to begin building a more connected adaptive sport network.
The session will focus on:
- Facilitating introductions and relationship-building among organizations and leaders;
- Identifying common challenges and opportunities across the adaptive sport landscape;
- Exploring opportunities for collaboration, resource sharing, and collective impact;
- Discussing strategies to improve athlete, coach, official, and volunteer development and retention;
- Developing a shared vision for what an ideal adaptive sport ecosystem in Michigan could look like.
This workshop is intentionally designed as a starting point, not a one-time conversation. The goal is to establish relationships and identify actionable next steps that can continue throughout the year and ultimately contribute to a stronger, more unified adaptive sport community across the state.
