Watch the Cayman Kids create a neat series of color changing chemical reactions through Dr. Paul's lesson, The Oscillating Clock.
Cayman Kids Science Academy
Cayman Kids Science Academy teaches science to the children of Cayman employees.
The Cayman Kids learned about endocrinology through the hormone signal insulin. They spent time in class reviewing the amino acid sequence of insulin by building a 3-D structural model. Once completed, the kids helped carry the 3-D model over to our new conference room where it will be hung as a piece of biochemical mobile art on Cayman's campus!
The Cayman Kids learned the physics behind how to softly land an egg in their Egg Drop lesson! Watch as our mini scientists test out different materials to engineer an egg drop from different heights, and see which ones had the most success!

Have you ever looked in the mirror and wondered ‘Where did I get my dimples?’ Or ‘How come my sibling and I have freckles, but my mom doesn’t?’ These characteristics are considered Mendelian Traits and are inherited from your parents and grandparents. Learn more about phenotypes and how to determine your dominant or recessive alleles with Dr. Goode’s video on Mendelian Genetics!
Watch as the Cayman Kids learn about emulsification, acid-base chemistry and pH, buoyancy, and more using things you can find right in your own kitchen. In this lesson - turning cream into butter, colorless cola, and floating oranges!
Cayman Kids Science Academy is back in session! We are excited to be back in the classroom teaching Cayman Kids the wonderful world of science. We kicked off our Fall semester with a fun demonstration on Solids, Liquids, and Gases taught by Mr. D!
Watch as the Cayman Kids from learn the basics of organic chemistry while creating their own hand sanitizer gel!

The Cayman Kids were given a lesson in anatomy and physiology. Each student got to complete an instructor lead frog dissection and learn about the locations and basic functions of a frog's internal organs and how they compare to human organs. Students were also given a brief overview on the rules regulating modern animal research and a lesson in appropriately sourcing and caring for lab animals. All in all it was a great class!

American Chemical Society Huron Valley and Cayman Chemical hosted STEMfest at the Whittaker Library. At STEMfest, kids are able to visit stations where they learn about science and participate in hands-on demonstrations such as: make a density column, crush a can with the pressure around us, separate DNA from strawberries, recrystallize a salt, make elephant toothpaste, run an oscillating clock reaction, and dress up as a scientist.
The Cayman Kids continued to learn about Organic Chemistry as they ran their own reactions during our last class. Watch as they learn about polymers while making nylon and quickly find out how adding a catalyst to their reaction can really speed things up!
