What to do when nighttime sleep is happening during the day?

😳Wake after 2 hrs of day sleep.
🤗Talk to baby during the day while you feed and change diaper.
🍼Feed every 3 hrs full feeds.
😴Keep day sleep in the light.
🌒Allow newborn to sleep in the dark at night.
💤After newborn is back to birth weight Allow newborn to sleep until they naturally wake.

Consistency is key. It will take a few days to turn the circadian rhyme around.

It is very important to talk as you gaze into your babies eyes during day feeds. It demonstrates a positive experience with food and the one who is feeding you. It shows the tiny humans you care. Also it is an early predictor of language skills.

But wait there's more....

Dr Victoria Leong is an Affiliated Lecturer at Cambridge’s Department of Psychology, says
“When the adult and infant are looking at each other, they are signalling their availability and intention to communicate with each other. We found that both adult and infant brains respond to a gaze signal by becoming more in sync with their partner. This mechanism could prepare parents and babies to communicate, by synchronising when to speak and when to listen, which would also make learning more effective.”
