Final exams looked a little different in each class last week. While some courses called for a traditional test or essay, others invited students to demonstrate their learning through culminating presentations, debates, projects, and reflections.

By the time the Greenhills boys golf team arrived at regionals, much of the work had already been done. The Gryphons had spent months studying courses, refining their swings, sharpening their short games, and learning how to manage every detail of a round. When the opportunity arrived to compete for a regional championship, they were ready, and the team delivered its most complete performance of the season—claiming the regional title and punching its ticket to the MHSAA Division 3 State Finals.

On May 21, 7th grade students embarked on the 14th Annual Walk for Water, carrying two-liter bottles four miles to a local creek—the average distance adolescent girls in water-scarce countries travel to collect fresh water. The day included hands-on activities centered on soil erosion, invasive species, and more, as well as a presentation on the water cycle, the effects of land management on runoff and groundwater, and the impact of pesticides on water systems.

MHSAA Division 4 State Champions! 🏆🎾

Middle school Spanish students took to the field this week for La Copa América con Nuestro Invitado España (American Cup with Our Guest Spain). Representing soccer teams from Mexico, Colombia, and Spain, students communicated exclusively in Spanish as they called for passes, encouraged their teammates, and cheered from the sidelines.

This group of thoughtful middle schoolers recently participated in the Great Lakes Invitational Middle School Conference, where they discussed access to free and fair elections around the world. Their conversations addressed barriers to democracy, voter information, inclusive electoral systems, and how the United Nations Development Programme can support democracy while respecting a country's sovereignty.

One student’s favorite book became another student’s next summer read during Friday's Book Swap in the library.
