Hello Community:
This message is to inform you that the Michigan Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (MI-LSAMP) along with LSAMP programs nationwide was terminated by the National Science Foundation (NSF) on Friday, May 2, 2025 due to shifting priorities at NSF that impacted alignment. Due to these changes our campuses will no longer be able to offer the services, support, and resources that were funded through this program. For almost 20 years, we’ve had the honor and pleasure of serving thousands of students in the State of Michigan who are underrepresented in STEM. Many of our scholars are now successful STEM educational leaders, faculty, and professionals throughout the world.
Our scholars and students remain the top priority for our institutions, and while the MI-LSAMP grant is no longer, scholars are encouraged to reach out to the staff associated with the program for support in connecting you to the campus resources, opportunities, and services that are key to your holistic success, belonging, and well-being. We also encourage you all to visit the NALA STEM website (nalastem.com) as this national community provides connections to mentorship, research opportunities, and resources beneficial to you as a STEM student and graduate.
We thank all of the dedicated MI-LSAMP staff for their leadership, advocacy, and for developing pathways geared towards providing access, opportunity, and prioritizing the success of underrepresented students in STEM in the State of Michigan. We also thank our partners at our institutions because without you all we could not have accomplished the goals, mission, purpose of Senator Louis Stokes’ vision for this program, and most importantly, change the lives and experiences of our students and our broader campus communities. Most importantly, we thank our past and current scholars for allowing us to be a part of your journey and to witness first-hand your growth and success.
Best,
The Michigan Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation Team
