What does it mean to be called to ministry?

In this Faith Pulpit article, Dr. Doug Brown explains that pastoral ministry is not simply one career option among many, but God's sovereign call to vocational service. He examines the biblical pattern of God's calling throughout Scripture, addresses common misconceptions about the call to ministry, and outlines the marks of a genuine calling.

He writes,

"The call to ministry is indeed a high and noble calling. It is a sacred invitation to preach God's Word and shepherd God's flock. It compels men into the ministry and sustains them to fulfill it."

Can we still identify as fundamentalists?

In today's culture, news, and media, fundamentalism is often associated with violence and militancy. But has the term always carried those associations?

In this article, Dr. Paul Hartog revisits the historical roots of Christian fundamentalism and argues that the term has been redefined in the public square. He reminds us that historic Baptist fundamentalism has been marked not by coercion or violence, but by a steadfast commitment to biblical truth, religious liberty, freedom of conscience, and the separation of church and state. He writes,

"Biblical Baptists must both resolutely defend fundamental truths and sound forth the Baptist distinctives. In the midst of religious apostasy and compromise, fundamental Baptists must “earnestly contend for the faith.” And in the face of cultural distortions, historic Baptists must unequivocally support the freedom of conscience, the voluntariness of religion, the separation of church and state, and the importance of individual soul liberty and responsibility."
