Job Description and Duties
Basic Function
Present agricultural lessons and activities to K-5 classrooms throughout Polk County.
Essential Functions
1. Promote importance and relevance of agriculture in students’ lives and its impact on Iowa and the world.
2. Deliver prepared lessons and facilitate activities to K-5 students on a regular basis.
3. Promote Agriculture in the Classroom program, its mission and goals via social media, e-newsletters, Spokesman paper, and blogs.
4. Utilize technology and social media to reach a variety of audiences to promote and support agricultural literacy education programs and initiatives.
5. Initiate networking opportunities for furthering agricultural literacy education.
6. Assist volunteers with programs and events.
7. Organize educational supplies and keep inventory.
8. Communicate regularly with the Polk County Farm Bureau Ag in the Classroom team.
9. Perform other job-related duties or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
1. Degree preferred in Education, Agriculture or other related field of study.
2. Proven classroom experience, presentation, organizational, and analytical skills is highly desirable.
3. Enthusiasm, flexibility, professionalism, and a passion for agriculture are a must.
4. Strong oral and written communication skills.
5. Knowledge or background in agriculture is a plus.
