This week, get to know your PTO President, Holly!

Hi, Terrace families! 👋 I’m proud to serve as your PTO President! Professionally, I work in Human Resources at Iowa State University, but my favorite job is being mom to my daughter, Natalie. We also share our home with our amazing German Shepherd, Mercedes! Natalie and Mercedes would happily live outside if they could, so I’m doing my best to become a little more outdoorsy for them. 🫣 We love exploring Ankeny parks, especially anywhere Natalie can climb, play, and zoom down a slide!

When I’m not busy mom-ing, working, or PTO-ing, I love anything creative—crafting, cross stitching, and pretty much any project that lets me make something! Natalie loves being creative too, so we spend lots of time making art together.

I became involved in the PTO because I have so much respect and appreciation for our teachers and staff and wanted to find a way to give back. I’m passionate about supporting the people and causes I care about, and I’m excited to work alongside our Terrace families, teachers, and staff to make this a fun and memorable year for our students. Please say hello if you see Natalie or me around!

This week, meet PTO member, Emily!

Hi! I’m Emily, and I’m mom to a fun, curious, and very energetic 4-year-old girl! We’re a busy little family who loves getting out and about, trying new things, exploring our community, and making lots of memories together. We also love a good cozy day at home when we need one!

I joined the PTO because I wanted to be more involved in my daughter’s school community and help create fun, meaningful experiences for the kids and families. I’m excited to get to know more of our PreK families and be part of such a special year!

A few fun facts about me and my family:

🌿 Parenting hack: When we need a reset, we get outside! A little fresh air and a change of scenery can work wonders.

🌮 One meal my daughter will always eat: Taco pasta! We always keep the staples on deck, so it’s an easy go-to when we need to throw dinner together.

🎨⚽️🌳 What kind of family are we? A little bit of everything! We love getting outside, exploring, trying new things, doing activities together, and also having plenty of cozy time at home.

This week get to know your PTO Treasurer, Jenna!

Hello! I'm Jenna. Chris and I have been together for 11 years, and together we share one incredible daughter. I joined the PTO because education is extremely important to me, and I wanted to be a part of making my daughter's first year in the public school system amazing!

I am currently a full time SAHM and a full time graduate student. When I manage to get some time to myself you'll find me in a cozy spot reading a book. The one meal we make that my daughter will always eat with no complaints is grilled steak with roasted potatoes and carrots and sauteed mushrooms and onions (she hates spaghetti and pb&j sandwiches). Having a very active child has turned our family into an outdoorsy family. We like to spend our weekends at my parents lake place in Minnesota, at Chris' parents country side cabin in North Eastern Iowa, swimming in our pool, biking, walking, playing at the playground, or exploring the Downtown Des Moines Farmers Market, but on the hottest days of summer or the coldest days of winter we're usually playing a board game (Candyland is the current favorite) or making art projects!

I am looking forward to watching my daughter continue to grow at Terrace this year and making more connections with families with children my daughter's age.

Want an easy way to connect with the other families in your child’s class? We’re putting together class directories for families who choose to opt in and share their contact information.

These directories are a great way to:
✨ Connect with families outside of school
✨ Plan playdates and social gatherings
✨ Stay in touch with other preschool families

📱 Scan the QR code to complete the Google Form and add your student to the directory.

Please complete one form for each student you’d like included and complete the form by October 1st!

As a reminder, students are not permitted to bring invitations or cards to school to distribute. If you think you may want access to your child’s class contact information throughout the year, we encourage you to opt in!
