📚💕 **THANK YOU, DOLLY** 💕📚

Every year I share **Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library** with my daycare families. I tell parents about it, encourage them to sign their kiddos up, and usually remind everyone about it more than once. 😂 Because honestly… **FREE BOOKS for our little learners?! YES PLEASE!** 📚❤️

But sharing it today feels a whole lot different.

Dolly gave the world so much through her music, but as someone who spends every day with little ones, I have always had such a special appreciation for what she did for children.

She understood just how important it is to get books into little hands. ❤️

At Miss Roxy’s, reading time is rarely quiet. 😂 We point at pictures, ask a million questions, talk over each other, sometimes read the same book over and over and OVER again, and occasionally don't even make it through the actual story. But THAT is what early literacy looks like. Those little moments are where children learn new words, use their imaginations, make connections and, most importantly, learn to **LOVE books.**

And Dolly helped make those moments possible in millions of homes. 🥹

I just think there is something incredibly special about using your success to make sure little children have books of their very own. A book might seem like such a small thing, but when you work with children, you know it isn't small at all.

So today I just want to say **thank you, Dolly.** 💕

Thank you for believing in our littlest learners. Thank you for understanding how important those first five years are. Thank you for putting books into homes that may not otherwise have had them. And thank you to everyone who continues the work of the **Imagination Library** and keeps this amazing gift going.

And because I tell my daycare families every year, I'm going to say it again… 😂❤️

A huge, heartfelt **THANK YOU to Cassie’s grandma** for donating this amazing collection of supplies to our classroom! 🥹❤️

I think one of my favorite things about this donation is knowing that you saw these items and your first thought was something along the lines of… **“I wonder if Miss Roxy’s class could utilize these?”**

The answer is… **YES. YES WE CAN!!! 😂🙌 Thank you!!!**

Scrapbook paper, fun scissors, stamps and all of these little treasures have SO many possibilities in a play-based classroom. 🎨✂️ The kiddos can cut, stamp, create, design, glue, build collages and turn these supplies into whatever their little imaginations dream up. While they think they’re simply creating, they’re strengthening fine-motor skills, practicing hand-eye coordination, making independent choices, problem-solving and building confidence in their own ideas. ❤️

But more than the supplies themselves, it means so much to know that our daycare families—and even our daycare **grandparents**—see something and think of our classroom. 🥹 That kind of support is such a special reminder that it really does take a village to give these kiddos the experiences they deserve.

✏️🖍️📚 **OUR CLASSROOM IS FEELING THE LOVE!** 📚🖍️✏️

A HUGE thank you to **Knox and his family** for bringing in an entire basket full of school supplies for our upcoming school year! 🥹❤️

Construction paper, crayons, markers, colored pencils, paints, glue sticks and MORE—these supplies are going to be put to very good use at Miss Roxy’s! 🎨✂️🖍️

In a play-based classroom, art supplies are so much more than “craft supplies.” They give our kiddos opportunities to **create, experiment, make choices, use their imaginations, strengthen those little hand muscles, practice colors and shapes, develop early writing skills, and proudly say, “I made this!”** ❤️

And with little artists, we can go through supplies FAST! 😂 So having families help keep our classroom stocked means more than I can put into words.

🎂💕 **HAPPY 3RD BIRTHDAY, GWEN!** 💕🎂

Oh, sweet Gwen… **THREE already!** 🥹💗 It feels like this past year has absolutely flown by, but when I stop and think about just how much you have **grown, learned, and changed**, my heart could burst.

It has been such a FUN year watching your little personality grow right along with you. I’ve watched you learn new things, become more independent, make friendships, explore, play, laugh, and surprise me with just how much that little mind of yours is taking in every single day. 🌸✨

One of my favorite parts of what I do is getting the privilege of watching these little kiddos grow right before my eyes—and Gwen, you have grown SO much this year. Not just taller and bigger, but smarter, braver, sillier, sweeter, and more confident. 💕

I feel so lucky that I get to be a small part of your childhood and make these memories with you. **Three is going to be such a fun year**, and I can’t wait to see all the learning, adventures, giggles, and milestones it brings.

🥔🐾 **SOME TOYS JUST NEVER GET OLD… AND POTATO HEAD IS ONE OF THEM!** 🐾🥔

A HUGE thank you to whoever sent us the **Potato Head Pets** from our Amazon Classroom Wish List! 🥹❤️ Please let me know if this was you because I would absolutely love to thank you personally!

There is just something extra special about adding a classic toy like **Potato Head** to our classroom. These are the kinds of toys that simply **never go out of style**. Generation after generation, kids still love them—and they are still such an amazing way to **learn through play**.

Little hands are strengthening fine motor muscles as they push and pull the pieces, little minds are problem-solving as they figure out what fits where, and their imaginations are working overtime as they create the silliest little pets and stories to go along with them. 🐶🐱💕 And the best part? They just think they're PLAYING!

And when I say these toys last, I mean it! **Miss Roxy still has Potato Head pieces in our classroom from nearly 10 years ago!** 🥹 There is something pretty incredible about knowing that a toy donated today could still be making children laugh, create, imagine, and learn many years from now.

🎨❤️ **ANOTHER VERY SPECIAL CLASSROOM THANK YOU!** ❤️🎨

The clock is officially ticking… **ONE WEEK until preschool begins!** 🍎✏️ And with every new classroom delivery, my excitement grows just a little bit more!

A HUGE, heartfelt **thank you to Isaac’s family** for purchasing these **paint sticks and construction paper** from our Amazon Classroom Wish List! 🥹🎨

I know art supplies might seem like something simple, but in a play-based classroom, they are anything but simple. Give a child a blank piece of paper, some colors, and the freedom to create, and suddenly that little piece of paper can become **ANYTHING.** ❤️

These paint sticks are going to be SO much fun for our kiddos! We can use them for process art, color mixing and exploration, seasonal projects, collaborative murals, letter and name activities, open-ended art invitations, and probably a few creations that Miss Roxy won't quite understand but will be assured are VERY important. 😂🎨

And construction paper? We can NEVER have enough! 😂✂️

It will become apples, pumpkins, Christmas trees, dinosaurs, spaceships, self-portraits, collages, shapes, letters, ripped-paper art, cutting practice and hundreds of other creations we haven't even dreamed up yet.

But while those little hands are busy making their masterpieces, **so much learning is happening.** They're strengthening the tiny muscles they'll eventually need for writing, practicing hand-eye coordination, learning colors and shapes, experimenting with cause and effect, making independent choices, solving problems, expressing emotions and—most importantly—discovering that their ideas have value. ❤️

That's one of my favorite things about art at this age. There doesn't have to be a "right" answer.

A purple apple? Absolutely. 🍎💜
A blue dinosaur with six legs? PERFECT. 🦕😂
A picture that looks like three lines and a giant blob but comes with a five-minute explanation about how it's actually their entire family riding a rocket to the moon? **Straight to the refrigerator.** 😂❤️

Because in our classroom, the goal isn't to make 10 identical crafts.

The goal is to give children the materials, encouragement and freedom to **CREATE.** 🌈

Isaac’s family, thank you for putting these materials into our kiddos' hands. Because of your kindness, there are going to be **so many little masterpieces created this school year**—and behind every one of them will be learning, imagination, confidence and a very proud little artist. 🥹❤️

I cannot tell you how much it means to have families who believe in our classroom and support the experiences I work so hard to create for these kiddos.

🌈📚 **ONE WEEK UNTIL PRESCHOOL & ANOTHER AMAZING THANK YOU!** 📚🌈

We are officially **ONE WEEK AWAY from the start of our preschool year**, and I seriously cannot put into words how excited I am! 🍎✏️❤️

A HUGE, heartfelt **thank you to Leighton’s family** for purchasing all of these AMAZING additions from our Amazon Classroom Wish List! 🥹💕 Every time another package arrives, I am reminded just how incredibly lucky our kiddos are to have families who believe in what we are doing and choose to invest in their learning.

And these aren't just new toys and books—they are going to create SO many opportunities for learning through play! ❤️

🦁 **Build-a-Zoo Animal Puzzles** — These are going to be so much fun! The kiddos can build and rebuild their animals while working on problem-solving, spatial awareness, hand-eye coordination, fine motor strength, animal recognition, and creativity. And I'm sure we'll end up with a few very interesting mixed-up animals along the way. 😂

🌈 **Rainbow People & Arches** — I absolutely LOVE open-ended toys like these because there is no "right" way to play with them. They can become bridges, tunnels, houses, roads, balancing challenges, pretend-play characters and whatever else those little imaginations dream up. They're wonderful for color recognition, sorting, counting, balance, engineering concepts and creative thinking.

🔐 **Shape & Color Lock Boxes** — Our kiddos will be matching shapes, identifying colors, figuring out which keys open which locks and strengthening those little fingers and hands in the process. That's problem-solving, persistence, early geometry, fine-motor development and independence all wrapped up in PLAY!

🧱 **Colorful Balancing Blocks** — These will be another wonderful open-ended addition to our classroom. Children can stack, balance, sort, make patterns, compare sizes and experiment with cause and effect. When the tower falls over, that's not a failure—that's an opportunity to figure out, *"What can I try differently?"* ❤️ Those little moments are where some of the BEST learning happens.

📚 **And the BOOKS!!** We received *Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?*, *Marker*, and more of our beloved **Never Touch** sensory books! These books encourage language development, vocabulary, prediction, repetition, color and animal recognition, sensory exploration and, most importantly, a LOVE of reading. Our story times may not always be quiet, but they are certainly full of learning, laughter and little voices excited to participate! 😂📖

This is exactly why I love a **play-based preschool program** so much.

Children don't need to spend their entire preschool day sitting at a desk to learn. They need to **touch, build, stack, knock down, sort, pretend, explore, ask questions, make mistakes, try again, talk with their friends and use their imaginations.** 🌈

When we intentionally choose materials like these, the "toys" become our teaching tools and the classroom becomes another teacher. ❤️

Leighton’s family, **THANK YOU** for helping me continue to build the kind of classroom I dream of giving these kiddos. 🌈💕 **ANOTHER SPECIAL THANK YOU FROM OUR CLASSROOM!** 💕🌈

Leighton is one lucky little girl to have **so many wonderful people in her corner!** 🥹❤️ Today I get to thank **another one of Leighton’s amazing grandmas** for showing our classroom so much love!

She surprised us with several wonderful new learning materials from our Amazon Classroom Wish List, including **translucent rainbow building blocks, wooden number building blocks, and a colorful wooden shape-stacking toy!** 🌈🔢🧩

I absolutely LOVE adding materials like these to our classroom because there isn't just one "right" way to play with them. Our kiddos can **build, stack, sort, count, balance, create patterns, recognize colors, shapes and numbers, problem-solve, and use their imaginations.** Those beautiful translucent blocks are also going to be SO much fun to explore on our light table! 😍🌈

This is exactly what **play-based learning** looks like in our classroom. Little hands are busy playing while little minds are doing some BIG learning. ❤️

But as excited as I get about new classroom materials, the part that touches my heart the most isn't what's inside the Amazon box.

**It's the love behind it.** 🥹

Knowing that one of our kiddos' grandmas took the time to look through our wish list and choose something that will not only benefit her granddaughter, but **every child in our classroom**, means more to me than I can explain.
