🌅 Sunset Stampede Lights Up Evangola

Tonight Lake Shore hosted the Sunset Stampede at Evangola State Park, and it was a perfect night to run. Runners from across Western New York raced the grass course along Lake Erie as the sun went down over the water. Every student-athlete out there gave it everything, and it showed.

A big thank you to Coach Brinkerhoff for all his work putting this meet together, and to our volunteers, and parents for helping make it a great night at the park.

🦝 BREAKING: Math class interrupted by some visitors.

The math wing at Lake Shore High School hit pause today when someone spotted two raccoons in a tree right outside the window. Only one agreed to show its face. The other is a very private raccoon.

Officials confirm math has resumed. The raccoons declined to comment.

🏆 Record Breaker: Nate Skibinski Makes Lake Shore History

Nate Skibinski (No. 12) is now the all-time leading scorer in Lake Shore Boys Varsity Soccer history. The senior captain reached 58 career varsity goals Thursday night, passing the record of 57 set by Wade Bergum, Class of 2014.

The record-breaker was also the game-winner. After tying the mark in the first half, Nate scored on a penalty kick with about a minute left in overtime to beat Cheektowaga 2-1. Thanks to everyone who came out in the cold to see history happen. On to sectionals next week!

🤝 Thank you, Grandview Bay Community Association!

The association met with Eagles Manufacturing, the student-run business at Lake Shore High School, to plan its next order and see what the class has been working on.

Students walked them through the whole process, from first design to finished product. They explained how they print , showed off the shirts, mugs, glassware and hats they make, and talked about their jobs, from CEO to manufacturing.

It's a lesson you can't get from a textbook: listening to a client and building a relationship that lasts.

✂️ Ribbon cut, student branch open!

Lake Shore High School students cut the ribbon this morning on the new Radius Federal Credit Union branch inside their school, celebrating the partnership on International Credit Union Day. They were joined by the Radius team, led by CFO Rebecca Gunning.

The student-run branch has been a staple of the Academy of Business and Finance since 2010. Now it starts its next chapter with Radius, giving students and staff a place to open checking and savings accounts and make deposits without ever leaving the building.

Students run it all. Every junior in the Academy works the counter, serving members and handling transactions, then completes a 130-hour paid internship the summer before senior year. Along the way, students can earn college credit through SUNY Erie and a Certificate of Financial Studies.

Eat at Red Robin next Thursday, October 22 and help our Unified Sports team take the plunge for Special Olympics New York. 🍔

On Thursday, October 22, Red Robin in Orchard Park gives 20% of food sales to Lake Shore's Polar Plunge team. In December, our students run into Lake Erie together to support athletes across New York.

On October 16, our students and staff will wear pink for Pink Effect 2026, right alongside every other school in the district. It's a simple way to stand with the classmates, teachers, and families who have been touched by cancer, and to remind them they're not alone.

🎨 Art class moved outdoors at Griffis Sculpture Park.

Lake Shore High School students in Digital Photography and Sculpture spent the day yesterday making art among the park's giant sculptures. Students in Poetry and Creative Writing found their own way in, drawing and writing stories of their own.

Thanks to Miss Zittel, Mrs. Migliaccio and Miss Millen for bringing students out to the park. Some days the best classroom has no walls!
