Hearts were full this afternoon in the Angleton band hall 🥹.
For those who were unaware, last Saturday, Angleton Indoor Percussion performed at the TCGC Pasadena Memorial contest. Excitement and happiness from their first place win was later met with fear and tragedy. In that moment, our beloved marching tech, Dwight Benjamin, was struck.
Today, we were able to welcome home back to the Purple Pride and the students and staff couldn’t be any happier.
We’d like to thank all of you who have reached out the Purple Pride to show your love and support for our students and staff involved. Massive shoutout to those who, without them, the situation could have turned out much worse, including those Pearland parents who stepped in, as well as the students from Pasade a Memorial who, despite the chaos, went out of the way to help Dwight to safety.
We’d also like to thank Mr. Fairdosi who was able to calmly get our students to safety.
At the end of the day, we remain AIP STRONG.
If you’d like to support Dwight on his road to a full recovery, please consider donating.

Important Message from Angleton ISD - AHS Drumline Competition Incident
Today, our Angleton High School Percussion Drumline was at a competition at Pasadena Memorial High School. There were 43 AHS students at the competition along with two band directors and a percussion technical consultant. At the end of the competition, as the band directors and technical consultant were leaving the school, an elderly male who was standing in the hallway took out a handgun and fired a shot. The technical consultant was hit in the shoulder and was transported to a Houston hospital. The victim never lost consciousness. The AISD percussion director left the scene unharmed and immediately got all AHS students on the bus. All AHS students were safely accounted for and have made their way home to Angleton safely and without further incident. Our information is that the elderly male was apprehended by Pasadena police.
AHS will have counselors on campus first thing in the morning on Monday when school returns to provide support for the students involved in this incident and any other students affected by this incident.
We are deeply saddened by this event, and we wish to commend the Angleton ISD staff for their quick and decisive action in keeping our students safe.
Our current information is that this is an ongoing investigation in which AISD will fully cooperate. Our hearts and prayers go out to all those affected by the incident, and we will continue to provide the needed support for our students and staff.
