🌱 From tiny tissue cultures to thriving plants!🪴

Our Tissue Culture Acclimation class was a good time in the plant lab! 🌿 Participants got hands-on experience transitioning delicate, lab-grown plantlets from their sterile environment to the real world, learning how to help these little plants adjust, grow, and thrive.

There’s something pretty magical about watching a tiny plant take its first steps toward becoming a full-grown beauty. And of course, a little media on our hands makes for a great day! 🧤💚

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for this fun, educational experience! We love bringing new horticultural techniques to our community and growing our knowledge together.

🧪🌱 You bought the tiny plant in the flask… now what?!

Tissue culture plants are tiny, adorable, and a little intimidating when you first bring them home. 😂

That’s where acclimation comes in.

Join us October 10 for a hands-on Tissue Culture Acclimation Class and learn how to take a plant straight from the lab environment and transition it successfully to growing on its own.

And the best part? You won't just watch. You'll actually do it. 🌱

We'll work through the process step-by-step, from removing the agar and preparing the plant to getting it established in its new growing environment.

🌳 Your tree didn’t start declining this summer.

Brown leaves, thinning canopies, and dead branches are often the symptoms, not the beginning of the problem.

Tree stress can take months or even years to become visible. Common causes include:

• Drought stress
• Soil compaction
• Root damage from digging or construction
• Changes in drainage
• Improper planting or mulch piled against the trunk

Before reaching for fertilizer or pesticides, look at the tree’s history. Has the site flooded? Was soil added or removed? Has construction occurred nearby?

The clues may be below ground.

Healthy roots = healthy trees. 🌳

Have a tree question? Contact the Brazoria County AgriLife Extension Office and include clear photos of the entire tree, leaves, trunk, and root flare.
