EVERY STEP IN REMEMBRANCE
As part of today's September 11 observance, our HCHS Fire Technology students and JROTC cadets participated in a 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb.
Students began at the opposite end of the school and made their way to the football field, where they climbed up and down the stadium bleachers to complete approximately 2,000–2,200 steps—the equivalent of 110 flights of stairs.
They climbed in remembrance of the 343 firefighters, 60 police officers, 125 Pentagon employees—55 military and 70 civilian—and the thousands of civilians who lost their lives in the attacks.
The climb was a powerful demonstration of endurance, but more importantly, an act of remembrance, respect, and gratitude for those who lost their lives, those who answered the call to serve, and the families who continue to carry their memory.
Every step had a purpose. Every step carried a memory. We will never forget.
