Our eighth graders are taking on a big question: Has technological progress surpassed humanity’s ability to use it ethically?

Working with partners, they research evidence, build their cases, and consider perspectives that may challenge their own. Then comes the question segment: listening closely, asking focused questions, and responding in real time.

Along the way, they practice taking a breath, letting someone else finish, and disagreeing respectfully. Every exchange is a chance to explain their thinking and stay steady when someone pushes back.

Think. Speak. Respond. Skills that reach well beyond debate day.

Every step for Becky. 💚

On Sunday, October 4, Miller’s Milers took part in the Jimmy Fund Walk in memory of our beloved colleague Becky Miller.

Mimi, Carolyn, Telly, and Maggie completed the 10K. Karen and her daughter Hannah, a Pike alum, walked the half marathon, while former Pike faculty member Liza Waters and her friend Amy completed the full marathon.

By Sunday evening, the team had raised $7,726.89, surpassing its $7,200 goal.

Thank you to everyone who walked, donated, and cheered them on. We’re grateful to this community for continuing to show up for one another and for keeping Becky’s memory close.

Grade 7’s Metabolic Reactions unit starts with a case to investigate. 👀 In Mahi Jariwala’s classroom, students work in groups to model the small intestine and explore how food molecules move and are absorbed. Next come indicators to detect those molecules, then a return to the case study to put the clues together.

Grade 7 science in action. 💪

A little greenery for the people who help Pike grow. 🌱💚

As part of our Centennial year of service, our community came together to decorate pots and plant gifts for Pike’s classrooms and offices. Now those plants are settling into their new homes.

Thank you to FSP, Gen Green, and everyone who helped put a little extra care into our campus. 🪴

We walk on for Becky. 💚

On Sunday, October 4, Pike faculty and alumni will take part in the Jimmy Fund Walk as Miller’s Milers, the team founded by beloved Pike faculty member Becky Miller.

Becky passed away from cancer in the spring of 2025. Her team continues the tradition she began, walking in her memory and raising funds for cancer research and patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

We invite our Pike community to join the walk or support Miller’s Milers with a donation. It is a meaningful way to remember Becky and carry this tradition forward.
