🌱A year long project in a minute and a half. 🥗

The APS food services department turned the empty greenhouse on the rooftop at West Elementary into a functional space for learning and growing using funds from a MAFresh Grant.

The Massachusetts FRESH (Farming Reinforces Education and Student Health) grant is a state-funded initiative through Massachusetts Farm to School that awards moneys to schools and early education centers to expand farm-to-school initiatives, local food purchasing, and food literacy.

Through this project, we not only fostered students’ connection to their food, but we created an amazing space for STEM activities and life skill development. 🌱

Sending out a huge THANKS to all our partners, including the amazing students at WEL for helping to plant microgreens and lettuce!

Kitchen leads were asked to take their excess inventory and get creative for June's Chef's Choices. We had some great submissions but there can only be one winner.
