Andover High School Band

We are excited to welcome Abby Rakes as our new Assistant Band Director! Below is her bio:

I am from Clearwater, Kansas, and a recent graduate of Kansas State University, where I earned a Bachelor of Music Education. During my time at the university, I was actively involved in a wide range of ensembles, including the Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, and Orchestra, among others. I also served as Drum Major of the Marching Band for two years, an experience that significantly shaped my leadership and musicianship. Outside of my academic and musical pursuits, I enjoy reading, crocheting, hiking, and cooking. I am delighted to join the Andover Bands Program as an Assistant Director and look forward to contributing to its continued success!

Join us this Wednesday to enjoy all of our Andover jazz ensembles! Starting at 6 p.m., Jazz Night will feature the AMS Jazz Band, 2 AHS Combos, AHS Jazz 1, and Ben Jervis on the trumpet! Can’t wait to see you there, we have so much prepared for you 💙🎷🎶

Congratulations to all of our students who participated in the KSHSAA Regional Solo/Ensemble festival hosted at AHS last Saturday!!

Happy Holidays! To wrap up the semester, our band celebrated all of our wonderful and amazing achievements from the past months as well as celebrated the holidays with our annual Secret Santa! Thank you to all of our amazing students for their hard work and dedication this semester!! 💙

Our Jazz I put on another amazing performance in the Commons on Friday. Jazz I students played Christmas tunes for the students of AHS. Great job by our Jazz I students!

We had an amazing time at our Central States Performance! Our students have worked so hard and received an Excellent Rating at K-State! We couldn’t be more proud of their dedication to their work!
