Along the Little Delaware River, in Bovina, New York, you will find my pottery studio nestled among a handful of century old houses. Before settling here in 2005, I carried my love of clay through Virginia, North Carolina and Louisiana for over 25 years. Here in the Catskills though, I have found a sense of balance in nature that has helped me connect more with my clay work and my roots. When I wa

s little I wanted to be an archaeologist because the thought of discovering something ancient thrilled me. So, I entered college at James Madison University as an Anthropology major, but my first day in Ceramics 101 changed my life. I found everything in clay: the past, the present and the future. My teacher, Masako Miyata, taught me to see the beauty of tradition and simplicity. When I work with clay, I am part of a trade dating back thousands of years. My inspiration comes from those archaeological finds that I have admired since my childhood.
