In an effort to ensure that our learning environment is as safe as possible, attached is a revised school calendar for the 2020-2021 academic year in Anderson School District Five.

Please note that the new start date for the upcoming school year is now September 8, 2020.

Anderson Five families should be on the lookout for important communication from their child(ren)’s school containing a link to the 2020-2021 Anderson Five School Re-Start Parent Survey. This anonymous survey should only take 10 minutes or less to complete and will help inform the planning efforts of our school district. Only one survey per household is necessary. The survey is intended solely for parents/guardians whose child(ren) attend school in Anderson County School District Five, and it will be available on the Anderson Five homepage until June 30, 2020.

As Anderson School District Five continues to prepare re-start plans for the 2020-2021 school year, feedback from our parents/guardians is critical to this process. As we continue to prioritize student health and safety, it is equally important that we include parent/guardian responses in our decision making process to ensure plans are responsive to the needs of our students and their families. We remain confident in our preparedness to implement any of the options available that ensure each and every child is provided with a quality education and services.

Attention Parents: Please be sure to drive thru the school to pick up your child’s belongings (including field day T-shirts and medication from Nurse Pickens) next week! If your child has library books, they will need to return them at this time. If you have multiple children, please come on the day your oldest child’s grade is assigned! Special Request: Please bring the students if you can. We would love to wave and see their smiling faces at our drive-thru pick up! We have missed them so much! See you soon!

Anderson School District Five community:

In response to the Governor's order to extend closures of all South Carolina schools, Anderson Five will continue to observe eLearning through April 30, 2020.

Our schedule will be as follows:
• March 25-27 eLearning
• March 30-31 eLearning
• April 1 Professional Development
• April 2-3 NO eLearning all schools and offices closed
• April 6-10 Spring Break enjoy the rest, NO eLearning
• April 13-17 eLearning
• April 20-24 eLearning
• April 27-30 eLearning

Please see district message regarding school closure.

Students needing to pick up medication/medical equipment, Chromebook devices and/or eLearning packets (K3 and K4) will have the opportunity to do so at the school on March 16. School Nurses will be on-site at each school to distribute medication/equipment accordingly, as will IT personnel for distribution of Chromebook devices.

As part of the district response plan, arrangements are in order for our Culinary Services Operations to continue providing meals to students during school closures. Meal distribution will occur through mixed methods of delivery and pick-up locations. A list of meal site locations will be forthcoming sometime tomorrow afternoon.

Your patience and understanding is appreciated in the coming days as student and staff safety remain the forefront of our priority here in Anderson Five. Please continue to stay connected with us via our multiple district communication channels.

Update: Parents: If your student was absent or dismissed early on Friday, the school will be open tomorrow from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM. You may pick up your child’s device from Mr. Palmer, our ITSA. Please pick up during these times. It is not known if another opportunity during our closure will be made available to retrieve these devices. See you tomorrow for pick up! Have a good evening!
