So very proud of these 2026 Social Work grads!!! Honors College, Departmental Honors, Deans List, Spanish speakers and college athletes represented in this terrific trio!! They just returned from their senior trip to Honduras in time to walk the Honor Aisle at Graduation! Way to go, Jasmyn Benjamin, Katte Escobar and Rebekah Fannin!!!

Amazing Social Work trip to Honduras with our Spanish speaking seniors. The organization, Heart to 🇭🇳 Honduras hosted our group and we joined their mission to empower local community leaders in rural mountain villages. They provided a wonderful graduation send off for our students!

30th Annual Social Work conference! Wonderful work by our seniors and big thanks to our community partners who served as our keynote panelists!!

Social Work seniors headed to Honduras for the annual capstone senior trip. We will be learning from and working alongside Heart to Honduras which is a long standing ministry began by Church of God partners.

Our newly formed Department of Social Sciences, (Poly Sci, Social Work, National Security, Criminal Justice, Pre-Law and International Relations) knows how to have fun! We got into the spirit with some Easter headgear. 😂😅

AU Social Work students at the Indiana State House!

Last week Social Work students spent a day at the Indiana State House listening to legislation in the House of Representatives. They also met with the Representative from District 6, Kyle Pierce.

Several University Social Work programs were represented with students attending from all over central Indiana for the NASW, (National Association of Social Workers), meeting in the Rotunda of the State House.

AU SW Alumni, Erica Smatlack is doing a macro MSW field placement with the United Way and is often working at the State House. She was able to meet with the AU students and share her experiences.

The group also saw the Court of Appeals where AU Alumni, The Honorable Rudy Pyle serves. His father, Professor Rudy Pyle taught in the Social Work program at AU for several years.

Several Senators shared about the importance of Social Workers during the NASW meeting. They reminded us that this is the People’s House! An inspiring and educational day for our students!

Incredibly proud of AU Social Work alum Brooke Carey and the good work of she and her colleagues at Kids Talk of Aspire Indiana. A wonderful fund raiser this past week that embodied the organization’s good and courageous advocates working for the protection of Madison County children.
